Lead Penetration Tester
& Technical Content Creator

About the role

We are looking for a skilled penetration tester who can lead engagements across web applications, networks and cloud environments while also producing high-quality technical content for our academy and research initiatives.

What you'll be doing

• Lead and execute penetration testing engagements across web application, API, network, AD and cloud assessments
• Produce detailed, actionable reports for both technical and executive audiences
• Develop technical educational content, labs, write-ups and research for Subverted Academy
• Mentor junior team members and conduct internal knowledge-sharing sessions
• Stay current with emerging vulnerabilities, attack techniques and security tooling
• Contribute to internal tool development and methodology improvements
• Assist creative team with understanding technical concepts and creating engaging content

What we're looking for

• Proven experience in penetration testing across multiple domains (web, network, cloud)
• Strong understanding of common attack frameworks and standards
• Experience creating, maintaining and/or delivering technical educational content
• Ability to write clear, detailed technical reports and documentation
• Experience with industry-standard pentesting tools
• Familiarity with cloud platform (AWS, Azure and GCP) from a security perspective
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts simply
• Ability to work independently and context switch between multiple projects and tasks

Nice to have

• Published security research, blog posts or CVE disclosures
• Contributions to open-source security tools or community projects

Please note

• This is a lead-level position suited for an experienced penetration tester with a proven track record of running solo engagements and leading assessments end-to-end without technical limitations.
• We operate on a hybrid working model, primarily remote, with occasional in-person presence required in Somerset West and surrounds. Some engagements may involve on-site work across the globe at client locations.
